"Remember the Gadna days, my good friends?" is a line taken from the book "A Horse Walks into a Bar" by David Grossman. This work was my take on the invitation to Dovaleh's stand-up comedy show.

Dr. Frankenstein 's invention comes to life. The Creature is born.

Repurposed previous work. In this context, this shows the Creature (subject in center) frazzled as he goes into town for the first time.

Repurposed previous work with added drawings digitally edited in, along with inverting the colors. In this context, Gretel meets the Creature. The colors are inverted as Gretel treats the Creature differently than the others, setting her apart (as well as being the only woman to appear in the introduction).

The Creature goes into the woods, and hides behind the bushes. Creature scares away burglars.

Creature wonders why everyone is scared of him, and sees himself as a monster. The Creature walks away into the night.

Living Units

AP Studio - Drawing Portfolio, 2019-2020

There is a certain artistry in the creation of humans—a sense of duality—in our biological and psychological processes. I strive to express the connection between the two, as they coexist in each human body. The concept of cells takes form in many different ways in my works. Inspiration came from cells through microscope lenses, mimicking the grain and black and white. Initially, I illustrated literal cells in backgrounds, but using abstract thinking, I veered from literal cells to manipulating the concept through repetition of circles and other shapes, through repeated heads and people, to highlights and shadows, and eventually worked my way inside out—from the smallest unit of a living thing to psychological experiences as we age. I focused on exploring my theme rather than a variety of mediums. Practicing and experimenting with ink, the versatility of a single medium stood as a metaphor for the versatility of the human being. As humans, we are composed of the same biological components such as cells, but it is the below-surface topics such as oppression, suppression, submission, vulnerability, and generativity that takes the heart to see.

Social issues piece. Based off of Alan Paton's novel under the same title. Compares Soweto 1976 and Iran 2018 side by side, with news articles from both the times bringing the two together.
